Creating and Configuring Navigation
In the create navigation process, you can grant editing permissions to create and edit a new navigation, and viewing permissions to use the navigation.
After creating the navigation, you must add menu items by going to Actions > Configure Navigation.
Create Navigation
1. Log in to Confluence as an administrator.
2. Click Get Started for Flexible Space Navigation in the User-installed apps list under Apps > Manage apps.
3. When the navigation list appears, click on Create Navigation.
4. In Create Navigation, set the navigation Name, Editors, and Viewers.
Name: Enter the name of the navigation you want to create. The name can include duplicates and special characters, with a maximum of 255 characters. This field is required.
Editors: Users granted editor permissions can modify and delete the navigation.
Specific Users: If you select Specific Users, you must choose the users or groups to get editor permissions. Only the specified users or groups will have editing rights for the navigation.
Private: Selecting Private means only the currently logged-in user can modify the navigation.
Viewers: Users with viewer permissions can access the navigation on the Confluence screen.
All Users: All users within the organization who are logged into Confluence (excluding guests) can access the navigation.
Specific Users: If you select Specific Users, you must choose the users or groups to get viewer permissions. Only the specified users or groups will have access to the navigation.
Private: Selecting Private means only the currently logged-in user can access the navigation.
Guest: Users logged in with guest permissions can access the navigation. If a guest user is not chosen as a viewer, the navigation will not be displayed on their screen.
5. To save your settings, click Save.
By default, users who choose as editors will also have viewer permissions.
If both editors and viewers are set to Personal, the navigation will be created as a personal navigation. Personal navigations cannot have a separate name and will be created as User Name's Navigation.
If a Guest navigation has already been created, Guest will not appear in the viewer permissions list.
6. The created navigation will be displayed in the list.
