Group Management

 

Group management is a feature that allows product user groups to add users as a group to a licensed group in the Flexible User License for easy license management in the Flexible User License. License groups in the Flexible User License are virtual groups that you create to optimize license management, allowing you to enforce licenses for users added to the license group flexibly.

 


About the Group Management Page

 

In Group Management, you can create groups to use as license groups and copy users from user groups to license groups.

To run the Group, refer to How to access the menu.

 

1. Click the Group Management tab in the Group menu.

2. On the Group Management screen, go through the settings for create group and move to groups. 

  • Create Group: Create a group to use as the license group. Group names are case-sensitive, and you cannot use a name that is already in use.

  • Move to Group: Move all users in the product user group to the license group. 

 


Create Group

 

Create group is the ability to create a new license group for use with Flexible User Licenses. License groups are virtual groups for optimizing license management in the Flexible User License, which allows you to add users who belong to multiple Confluence user groups to a license group to help you flexibly manage licenses for users who belong to multiple user groups.

  • Group Name: Type a name for the newly created license group. Group names are case-sensitive and can't be names that are already in use.

  • Create Group: After you enter the group name, click Create group, and a confirmation window appears. Click Submit to create the group.

 

 


Move to Group - Source Group

 


Move to Group is a feature that allows you to move users from a product user group to a newly created license group in one step. Add a product user group to an existing group.

  • Source  Group: If you type a partial product user group name in the Group name field, group names that match the letters you entered appear at the bottom. Select a group name from the list or type all of the group names yourself and click Add.

  • Source Group list: After you click Add in the Source Group, the User Group list displays the name of the product user group you selected and the number of users in that group.

  • Remove: To remove a group added to the Source Group list, enter the name of the group you want to delete in the Source Group field and click Del.

 


Move to Group - Target Group

 

Move to Group is a feature that allows you to move users from a product user group to a newly created license group in one step. To the Target Group, add the newly created license group from the Create group to move users from an existing group to the Target Group. 

  • Target Group: In the Group name field, type part of the name of the license group you created in the Create group, and the group names that match the letters you typed appear at the bottom. Select a group name from the list, or type all of the group names yourself and click Add.

  • Target Group list: After you click Add in Target Group, the Target Group list displays the name of the group you selected and the number of users in that group.

  • Remove: To remove a group added to the Target Group list, enter the name of the group you want to delete in the Target Group field and click Del.

 

 


Move to Group - Move Group

 

The move group can be run after you select a source group and a Target Group to move to. When you run a move group, the users in the source group are replicated in the Target Group.

  • Move Group: Move users from the Source Group to the Target Group. After you click Move Group, a message appears confirming the group move. Click Submit to execute the group move.

When you run a group move, users in the existing group remain in the Source Group and are only duplicated in the Target Group.
