Group by
Group by supports both single-column grouping and multi-level grouping across multiple columns.
This allows you to combine different criteria to organize work step-by-step or hierarchically, making complex work lists easier to navigate and helping teams understand workflow and status at a glance.
You can assign colors to each group when configuring grouping. When using multi-level grouping, different colors can be applied per grouping level to create clearer visual separation.
Multi-level grouping supports up to 5 columns.
Drag-and-drop between groups is supported only when a single Group by column is used.
Grouped by 1 column → drag-and-drop between groups is available
Grouped by 2 or more columns → drag-and-drop between groups is not available

Login to your Jira Cloud site.
Select the project you want to manage with the Flexible Table app, following the instructions in the Getting Started guide.
The table view in Flexible Table will appear.
At the top of the table, click Group by and select the column to group by. Adding multiple columns enables multi-level grouping.
Only columns defined in the project field schema are available for grouping. Groups are displayed hierarchically in the order they are added, so add columns based on your preferred priority.
When using multi-level grouping, assign different colors to each group to make the structure easier to distinguish. Click the color indicator next to a group to open the color picker.
Columns added to the table view are used for Group by.
If no Group by filter is selected, the table is grouped by Epic by default.
